Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need planning permission to replace my conservatory roof?
Whether you need planning permission to replace your conservatory roof will depend on what type of roof you are replacing it with. If you are replacing with a glazed roof it is unlikely that you will need planning permission but we will carry out all the checks as part of the process for you. If you are replacing with a solid or tiled roof you may need planning permission, but we can confirm this for you during the design consultation.

Do I need Building Regulations to replace my conservatory roof?
As long as your conservatory still meets the following criteria, you shouldn't need Building Regulations approval to replace the conservatory roof. 1) Your conservatory must to be separated from the main house with external quality walls and/or windows and doors that meet Building Regulation requirements. 2) Your conservatory will need to have an independent heating system that has separate on/off and temperature controls to the main houses heating system. As long as your conservatory still meets these requirements after you have replaced the roof, you shouldn't need Building Regulations approval. However, it's always a good idea to check with your local building control department.
-
Are tiled conservatory roofs any good?
Tiled conservatory roofs are very good if you are looking to extend your home and create a thermally efficient room. Tiled conservatory roof extensions can be installed in a fraction of the time that it would take to build an extension using traditional build methods.
-
Can you have windows in a solid conservatory roof?
Yes you can have windows in a solid conservatory roof. These can be small Velux windows or you can have full length roof windows to flood your conservatory with natural light.

-
Do I have to replace the windows when I replace the roof on my conservatory?
